Five Ways to Rebrand Yourself Before 2020:
Can you believe that we will be entering a new decade in just 86 days? Me either! With starting a new year comes many resolutions and goals, but what if you decided to rebrand yourself or your organization? To help you get started, I have listed five ways to effectively go about rebranding:
1. Establish your voice on social media We live in a digital age, as time going on, tools such as social media are only going to continue to progress. Most consumers, potential clients, or potential employers tend to educate themselves from information they find online. The first step to personal rebranding is, developing a voice on social media. Social media allows others to learn about a person in a fast way that is easy to access. Being that most social media network are free to join, anybody can have access to them. Social media also allows brands to share content with their targeted audiences in order to boost sales and awareness. According to Social Media: How to Engage, Share, and Connect By Regina Luttrell, “Today, Pinterest has become a social networking platform that does more than help people discover and save creative ideas. It drives awareness, increases website traffic, boosts in-store and online sales, and connects people with the brands they have come to rely upon.” 2. Actively maintain your social media accounts While simply having a social media accounts can do a lot for a person/brand, the tactic becomes counterproductive the accounts are not being maintained. One way to simply get your name out there, is to make sure others are constantly coming in contact with your content. The creation of original content can be difficult sometimes, so many people have the same ideas. The best way to do this is to produce content as soon as the idea arises. According to The Importance of Maintaining a Social Media Presence by Springwood Marketing, “Online content and having an active social media presence serves as a way to communicate, meet needs and build trust before establishing a direct relationship with clients. Additionally, one can connect with clients on a personal level in an environment in which common interests are shared.” When it is all said and done, consistency is key!
3. Prepare to expand your network We’ve all heard the saying, “It’s not about what you know, it’s about who you know”. When it comes to networking, I have never heard a truer statement. Having a strong and solid network is one of the key’s to advancing in any industry. Michael Page lists the Top 11 Benefits of Networking, according to the team, the number one benefit is strengthening business connections. One way to establish business connections, is to have beneficial connections on LinkedIn that can provide knowledge about your industry or new opportunities that arise.
4. Update your resume Having an updated resume that clearly communicates one’s accomplishments is key to self-rebranding. With new year comes new job opening and what better way to be prepared than by having a resume that is ready to be sent out? The new resume should be visually appealing with content that is concise, but clearly communicates ones accomplishments. 5. Make a plan Rebranding will no longer be effective if there is no plan in place to continue making progress. Now, "make a plan" can be such a broad statement; but social media plans, short term/long term goals, and communication plans are all plans that will further elevate one or a brand.
